where you can request to be be placed with that person, no matter what..
What study abroad programs allow you to be with a requested friend?
Does your friend live in the country you wish to visit?
If so, then most programs have what is called "direct placement" or something similar. When you fill out your paperwork, there is a section where you can fill out your friend's name and address. At the same time, they must fill out host family paperwork in their country, putting YOUR name down!
Actually, having a direct placement means a guaranteed host family and it will help you get accepted into the program.
Ask your high school counselor about what organizations he/she recommends. When you contact them, be sure to mention direct placement at the beginning!
Good luck!
Reply:What kind of study abroad programs are you looking into? If you are looking into a university course, that can depends on the sponsoring college (call the study abroad office for details). If you are going through an independant company, I would call and ask the company if they have anything that you can travel with a friend to ______ (wherever you want to go). More important things to consider in a study abroad program is where the program is, how long, training needed, and intensity. If all you want to do is travel with your friend, just book a plane to Europe.
