Don't forget:
- a camera and film/mem card
- a journal
- address book to send letters to friends
- take less clothes than you think you'll need, you'll inevitably get more there
- take small sizes of shampoo, etc. - you'll have enough to use while setlling in and you can always get more
- get a local map when you get there
- sunglasses
- a money belt for when you're touring
