I would like to study abroad in the UK Spring of 2009. I am very nervous about the perception of Americans, and how this could effect my experience. Is there anything I should know, and do you think going abroad is advisable?
Just some background....I am a history and political science major and plan to study at either the University of Bristol or Kent.
Should I study abroad in the UK?
Try to visit this website which I just came across, a lot of useful information on study abroad:

Reply:I don't think you need to be that worried about your being an American. Yes, Americans aren't always the most popular, but I don't think it should stop you from going abroad. I think as long as you're keeping an open mind, you're open to learning about the culture and being respectful of the people and the culture you'll generally be okay. No one can completely prevent someone from saying something nasty, but a small negative incident here and there shouldn't stop you from going at all.
