What are the "safest" African countries to visit or study abroad in?

Besides South Africa. I have known people who've stayed in Botswana and Zambia, and I've also heard Ghana is safe, but I really don't know. Anyone know the safest countries in terms of political stability, lower crime and American-friendly (or American-tolerant) people?

Tunisia is safe and has a lot of stability and freedom.

Tanzania is also generally very safe. It is stable, too.

Ghana is considered to be safe.
Reply:Zambia and ghana are both quite safe but i think the quality of education in egypt is much better.
Reply:Ghana is very safe.We have lots of foreign students here at the University of Ghana..I'm sure that says a lot.
Reply:*Egypt
Reply:S afica, zambia, botswana, namibia, angola, mocabique, malawi, tanzania, kenya: all relatveily safe. Wouldn;t give anything for yr chances anywhere else and even the above can be dangerous.
