I am of african american decent and going to Rome to study abroad for 4 months. What should I do with my hair?

I have close to shoulder length hair and want to refrain from my habit of cutting it, so that it'd grow out. Any suggestions? I.e. extensions/weave or braids.

just leave it natural.. or the way you allways wear it.. If you want a change though, i'd say weave.
Reply:personally i'd go for the braids...it's easier and you can snip any stray hairs to keep them neat. i wouldn't go for the weave as you'll have to have it taken out and resown and there are a nightmare to deal with. at least with the braids you can just have them replaited when they get to messy..just make sure you sleep in a skull cap to keep them neat......nothing like a fuzz halo in the morning...l.o.l.

hope you have a good time.
Reply:I lived in Germany for over a year and visited Rome twice. There are some african shops where you can ask for someone to get your hair done, but it was somewhat expensive, a hassle and I felt the quality was not the best. I would suggest having a natural do, I did and it was great. You wont have to limit your activities or worry about caring for your hair and I feel Europeans are very open regarding personal style and appreciate diversity. ( I was considered somewhat exotic). Enjoy your trip!
Reply:get pixi or box braids. they are easy to keep up with and look good. whoever you get to do them will teach you how to take care of them
Reply:Have you heard about the "Maxiglide"? I have very thick relaxed african-american hair and so far this product is best I've found to style my hair. It is a type of flat iron, but with special features that work great with coarse hair. Their website is maxiusbeauty.com. You can find it much cheaper on Ebay, though. Good luck in your trip!
Reply:I would say take it with you.
