Asking about steps to study abroad?

I'm planning to take my masters in New York in the near future, but I don't have the foggiest about the paperwork I need to prepare aside from my diploma, transcripts, and VISA form

Could somebody be kind enough to give something like a step-by-step guide? Thank you.

Asking about steps to study abroad?
each university has different admission requirements. here's a Web site that lists universities where you can study in New York. Just click on the link for the university you selected and check the requirements on their site.

Has anyone traveled as an exchange student to another country using Intrax study abroad??

well i really want to go to france for either a semester or a whole year. the agency i am looking at is Intrax Study Abroad but i want to find outside sources that tell me about their own stories and opinions..

if you have traveled with another company do you recommend that company??

please it is urgent!!

Has anyone traveled as an exchange student to another country using Intrax study abroad??
In picking a program, one thing you want to make sure if is that they are CSIET listed (www.csiet.org). I do not believe Intrax is on that list. CSIET certifies that programs operating in the U.S. meet certain standards and provides a bit of oversight. While it's not a guarantee, at least it helps.

You should check with your school counselor for a program. Chances are he or she works with one or two already. A program is only as good as its local representatives. AFS, Aspect, Rotary and YFU are generally reliable everywhere.

You will also need to work with your counselor on getting credit for your exchange.

For general information on being an exchange student, contact www.exchangestudentworld.com.

One last thing, if you want to go next year, you must HURRY. Most organizations are already placing students for next year and deadlines are nearing or already passsed.

Good luck!

Where is the best place to study abroad and meet beautiful women and have a great nightlife?

That depends. Pretty much every country, city or whatever has it's own type of nightlife. As for beautiful women, that depends on your taste. And you may also want to consider the weather and climate. If you like warmer climates, I would suggest Spain or Italy. Greece possibly. If you like weather similar to the Midwest in the USA (somewhat tempermental - always different) I would suggest England, Scotland, Wales, or France. Just remember that you'll need to learn at least some of the native language. And don't forget the "study" part of "studying abroad"!

Hope this helped!

Where is the best place to study abroad and meet beautiful women and have a great nightlife?
Belgrade (Serbia) you probably have a image of a run down poor dirty city because of the propaganda in western media (bbc and ccn) but im sure you would definately be plesently suprised to find out what its truely like.

The people a lovely, the lifestyle is fantastic and there is alot of culture. The city is buzzing 24/7 and there is always somewere to go. The nightlife is considered by most who have experienced as some of the best in the world.

Many of the people also speak english.

I'm going to China for 18 days w/study abroad. Everything's paid for but shopping. How much should I bring?

By everything's paid for I mean I paid a set price for the flights, lodging, and trips (such as the great wall). We get 8 meals a week. We are going to Shanghai, Changsha, and Beijing. We will be in Changsha for the majority of the trip. I have to buy gifts for at least 6 people.

I'm going to China for 18 days w/study abroad. Everything's paid for but shopping. How much should I bring?
well, depends on what you are looking to buy for them, things can be as cheap as 10rmb and as costly as you can imagine, I would suggest 500 USD that would equal 3500rmb, that is what I usually suggest to my friends who are coming over
Reply:Depends what you have a Yen for.

Buy the stuff at Walmart - it's all made in China.
Reply:You can buy Chinese tea, Wine, Chinese painting, calligraphy and something traditional. They dont cost much.

Prince range for tea: 10USD - 100USD

for calligraphy and painting: 10USD - hundreds USD (depends on where you buy)

for chinese seal: 1 USD -20USD (depends on material)

for Chinese wine: 10USD-50USD (Note: chinese alcohole is very very strong.)

and also snuff bottle with painting in side

price range: few USD=30USD (depends on the size and detail of the painting)

http://www.travelchinaplanner.com/discov...

hope this will be heplful for you to choose gifts.
Reply:If you are looking to do some major shopping (clothes etc) you should take altogether RMB 3000-4000. Though, i must say the prices can differ a lot depending on what and were you shop and eat. Sometimes dinner can cost up to a couple of hundred dollars (RMB) for just 3-4 people... but I guess you weren't really be looking at something like that. =)
Reply:For the trip that my wife and myself, I am budgeting about 150USD per day...
Reply:it depend on which item you want to buy.
Reply:Bring $3,000. It should be enough.

BTW, Beijing and Shanghai has major ATM networks where you can withdraw your money in local currency.

Reply:Another option is, scout for several universities that might suit you, don't narrow down your choice, make it as broad as possible, like 100-200 universities. Apply entrance scholarship for all. ALL.

Anyhow you need either one depends on your destination:

- foundation (Australia)

- A level (UK)

- Canadian Year 12 (Canada)

before you can get into degree course.

American degree program don't have foundation but the course is 4 years (Start straight after SPM) to get a degree.

Spain or Italy, Which country is better for study abroad?

I am born from French parents in Los Angeles. I took 4 years of Spanish in high school and have a level of intermediate-advanced. While in Italian I just studied for a month on my month due to similary. My future goals is a double major in Chemistry and Spanish. So in my position should I go to Spain and be proficient in spanish or Italy to gain intermediate skills in Italian(this would make me somewhat polyglot speaking French, english, spanish, and Italian.)

My future goals is to go to med school. In september I will attend UCLA. Which country should be better for me?

Spain or Italy, Which country is better for study abroad?
If you are going to major in Spanish you should go to Spain. This way you will be able to learn the culture and study Spanish. My minor is Spanish and I am going to study abroad in Spain next fall.
Reply:I suggest you study in Spain. You will enjoy your time a lot better if you could converse with the locals. I took Spanish for four years in high school and another 2 years in college before going to Spain. I enjoyed it a lot, because I got to ask directions and get bargains while speaking in Spanish. I was also more confident and didn't really need tour guides. I also took just one year of French before going to France. But compared to my trip to Spain, I got frustrated in the end, because I couldn't really talk with the locals in French. Plus, if you will be studying in California, most likely you will use Spanish a lot more as well. So brush up on it while at Spain.

Is it true that I can study abroad, like Canada, and the state pays 4 my studies if I return them when I'm hired

I'm not sure about this but someone told me that if I want to study abroad but don't have the money for it, the state could pay for my studies and I return them after I get a job. It's some sort of agreement. I'm not sure of it. Can someone please help me. I really really want to go to Medical school in Canada but can't afford. If this is possible can you please give me some sites I can look at? I really need help. Thank you in advance.

What is a good program to use if you want to study abroad in Spain?

I live in the U.S. if that helps.

What is a good program to use if you want to study abroad in Spain?
The first thing is you want to make sure the program is CSIET listed (www.csiet.org). If not, you can have problems down the road, particularly in getting any credits recognized.

You should also check with your high school counselor. Chances are there are exchange students in your school right now and he/she works with several organizations. The organizations/programs are only as good as the local representatives. Generally, AFS, Aspect, Rotary and YFU are reliable everywhere; ASSE most places; and AYUSA/INTRAX has troubles in many places.

How much study abroad matters?

I am trying to go to India to study abroad this winter, and I was wondering how much it matters...

I mean I have option of going on my own or going with the program. Going on my own would totally be for recreational purposes, but studying abroad may look good on my applications....

going on my own saves money though, about $2500.

How much study abroad matters?
If you can get college credit, go with the group. Also, if you study abroad with a program that can be reserched and is known, then it looks impressive on an resume, where going alone says a lot about your character as a person, but also would appear more as a vacation.
Reply:I went as part of a group to Russia and received college credit for it which made the costs seem a little more reasonable. I think you will get more out of it by going with a group because they will have organized activities and places to go you might not know about going on your own. Not to mention the safety factor of traveling in a group vs alone.

I want to study abroad for my masters how do i go about this dream? Where could i find a good program?

Depends on where "abroad" is! Are you in the US or elsewhere? What type of study are you looking at? For example, I am enrolled at the Fletcher School in Medford, Massachusetts for international affairs and it is absolutely wonderful.

I'm thinking about attending (study abroad) law school in England, does anyone have experience with this?

I am basically going to try really hard to get into a study abroad program for England when I start law school. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences to share or any advice. For example how expensive is England compared to NYC or are there any specific schools or programs to get into that I should be looking at. I do have family in England, but I haven't ever even met them, so I doubt they would be able to help me. Any Brits in NYC willing to chat it up? =p

I'm thinking about attending (study abroad) law school in England, does anyone have experience with this?
law school in england teaches british law and if you live in america what good will that be?unless you are just doing an exchange program for credits to a school in the us. ...it completely depends on where in england you go to school..london is very expensive, like new york..but if you go to a school in leeds/manchester/bradford/new castle/ex.......it will be alot cheaper.
Reply:Sorry, can't help, never studied abroad.

Know of any study/work abroad programs that would allow me to become more proficient in Spanish?

I am a Latino and can already speak Spanish. But I need a lot more refinement to smooth out the edges of my somewhat rough Spanish language skills.

Know of any study/work abroad programs that would allow me to become more proficient in Spanish?
There are various schools out there - try Cactus or Apple Languages. Try to go to Madrid where they speak "proper" Spanish rather than a dialect such as Catalan in Barcelona.

Do the benefits of study abroad justify the difficulties? What advice would you offer to a prospective student

Benefits are definitely worth the difficulties you'll put up with. I went to Germany for a semester in college, and although the German red tape of getting a visa and getting enrolled in the university was enough to make me want to cry, I got out of the states, and got to see a different country and lifestyle. And I learned a lot of German, haha.

Anything that gets you out of your own country and lets you broaden your perspective is good.

Do the benefits of study abroad justify the difficulties? What advice would you offer to a prospective student
It definitely does! My advice would be to check if there are other programmes apart from the standard programmes your university offers. (e.g. work experience abroad)

The annoying thing about studying abroad sometimes is that you meet too many people speaking your language which keeps you from improving your foreign language skills and from experiencing the culture of the country you went to. Picking an exotic programme sometimes helps to prevent that.

Confusion for study in india or abroad , & what line he should go for science or commerce? Whom should i talk?

My son is confused after taking IB Course,he has taken

Eng/Hindi/Physics/chemistry/Maths/Busi... studies/CAS. Right Now he is in 11th std, but he is not sure he want to study in india or abroad , and what line he should go for science or commerce?

Whom should in consult professional in mumbai to find out what he actually wants to do?

Confusion for study in india or abroad , %26amp; what line he should go for science or commerce? Whom should i talk?
Well..If you are thinking about the UK. I know the UK give a lot of opportunities for people specialising in the technical field. Physics is graded as the hardest subject at the UK, do well and you will go far.

Commerce is common, however I think Science would be best and also very challenging. I have courses similar to that, and currently I'm studying in the UK. Physics and engineering would be a good line to go into. My Uncle is a Air Conditioning and Refrigeration engineer and currently (even though he has less experience) he is on demand! I'm a science fan, and would recommend anyone to get into science.

UK universities also offers lots of opportunities for physics graduates, including upto £3000 bursaries for students that shows high commitment and good grades. Even first year graduates are in high demand.

Unfortunately I am not from India, so I do not know who to consult. But it's a good idea to review what he is good at and see what possible lines he would find the most success at.

Going abroad is very stressing, and doing something for the sake of the money can make anyone depressed and stressed. I would also recommend going to: www.ucas.co.uk. This is the university admissions service for the UK, if your son has a particular career in mind, you can search it up and look for the entry requirements!

It also depends how he is going to go abroad, in the UK if you are not a resident you don't get as much opportunities as you should, and also the fees are 3 times as high as a UK resident.

I am currently in the 12th year, because your son is finishing his 11th year, he will be going to colleges or sixth forms in the UK. For this I could recommend these sixth forms: Havering 6th Form (because I go to it :D) but you can just search for UK sixth forms and see what their GCE O/L (GCSE) entry requirements are.

Try this: http://www.londoncolleges.com/student/16...

These are the colleges in and around London. If he is planning to come to the UK as first experience, I would recommend sixth forms as the students are the same ages and it would help your son make some new friends. Colleges are for adult students and ages can vary a great amount and for newcomers it would feel somewhat awkward.

Good Luck!!
Reply:Unorganised studies will be a sheer waste of time and the boy will be even more confused and frustrated. I suppose there must a good library near where you live. Go to them and ask for a copy for use of an excellent UNESCO publication titled "STUDY ABROAD". This tome details of courses available all over the world and the requirements thereof. If you are near New Delhi,Mumbai, Kolkata or Chennai spend a day there with your son and talk to to the librarian; they are well-trained people and are always willing to help. Do make an appointment with them so they would know what to talk about.

Besides this, many universities have a career development abd advisory wing: the arec mostly in theUSA, Canada or the UK. Ask for their help; all these are totally free.

One strong advice: please do not approach the so-called private careers business; they fellece you of your money and my experince has been quite unsatisfactory.

Once again, try to find out as to what your son's best-like subjects are and telescope your efforts to use his talents, intelligence and skill towards a succesful future.

Good luck and thank you for your effort.
Reply:Without Biology with those subjects the best would be engineering field, IAS, IFS, IPS; even when you can afford it, it is better to be with the family at that tender age, love and guidance of parents and family immensely effects on the outlook of a person from short term and long term point of view,

I'm in my 2nd year is it too late to consider study abroad options?

my gpa is a 2.4, I plan on rasing it this semester to at least a 3 or higher. I was wondering is it too late to consider study abroad, because I know I may never get the chance to do it again.

Is it too late?

I'm in my 2nd year is it too late to consider study abroad options?
No. Actually the normal time to study abroad is during your junior year in in college. Just make sure you have a strong GPA. If you type in "study abroad programs" in your search engine so many choices pop up. Also if your university has an actual international studies office or career service (they have internship possiblities and often can direct you to someone that knows). Make sure that you research the study abroad organization %26amp; read the testimonials from previous students. If you want there's a program were you can visit many different countries and not stay in just one named Semester at Sea. Plus, if you have financial aid you can transfer it to pay for your abroad studies %26amp; some have scholarships. I hope this helps!!!
Reply:no. it's not too late. you're on the right track. get your gpa up because there are gpa requirements and you may not make it with 2.4. I was on my 3rd year when i considered internships. My work study options were go to Japan or work @Walt Disney World FL. I chose the latter. I should've went to Japan too, but i have no idea why i didn't after Disney. Maybe because of money. You have to pay for your own travel expenses and living expenses. That's why I picked Disney because they paid me wages. At least that helped me with phone and rent. Plus it's DISNEY. Period.

Financial Aid didn't pay for any of these expenses. I don't know if it has changed. You also must pay the university tuition for the work study/coop education, in which you can use financial aid. But the GOOD thing with work study/internship/coop education is there are no exams. It's Pass or Fail. The university gave me I believe it was 6 credits. So it was a win win situation. Just Pass it, which meant for me, I have to be on time for work and get good reviews from my managers. When you pass it, university gives you A or 4.0 for your grade which will increase your gpa. Well, that depends on your supervising prof. My prof was proud of us (there were only 2 of us fr our university who were picked to go to Disney, and we were the pioneers) and he made us do a report on what we did and what we learned while doing coop education in Disney. So he gave us an A or 4.0. It was a very nice experience. I recommend to every college student to do coop education/work study.

You will have lots of options depending on the work study/coop education programs you have at the university. I suggest you talk to your counselor or favorite professor who can point you to the right direction, and find out now what programs they offer and what the requirements are. So that you can plan your steps.

Good luck.
Reply:i don't think so. my friend from australia came here in his 3rd year and another came in his last semester.
Reply:No--I studied abroad in grad school and post grad. You need to get those grades up, though! Take a couple of courses in the language of the country where you plan to visit first, so you'll be able to get around and ask for the basic necessities, like where the bathroom is!
Reply:I'd say it's actually a bit early to start studing broads at age 2.
Reply:NO NO NO! Go!!! You'll regret not doing it. Believe me, do it! (And its NEVER too late! I did it last semester and I graduated last year and I plan to do it again and again and even went to school with older people)
Reply:It's never too late! Your GPA might not make it, though. The trip I went on to Europe (London and Rome) required a minimum of a 3.0 GPA average.

If you do end up going, have fun!

Where do you think would be a good place to study abroad for an athletic training major?

im in the united states sooo not there...thanks!

Where do you think would be a good place to study abroad for an athletic training major?
Do you speak any foreign languages? If not, then you'd probably want to focus on English-speaking countries. Unless your goal was to learn the other language well.

If you have interest in a specific sport, you could go to a country in which that sport is hot. For example, if you're interested in soccer/football, then you could try the UK. If you speak Spanish, you could try Latin America for that.

But in general, you may want to look at Australia. They are sport mad, and some of their universities do offer sports-related studies.

What Can I do to study at a Canadian University?

How can I study abroad? What´s the requirements?
Each university will have their own requirements. You will be considered a foreign student so your fees will be much higher. I'm afraid that "it depends" is the correct answer but not the one you want to hear as different provinces can have different rules. It is best to contact the universities themselves and check out the websites. Most of them have sections to help foreign students meet the requirements necessary.
Reply:Definitely going to need to check out your unis website. Ill be attending a uni here in canada next year and i know there is a ton of info and options out there. Most unis offer exchange programs through a lot of other unis in various countries. Ive found that for many of the programs, the costs are quite reasonable.

Can anyone suggest a school to study abroad for Spanish?

I am hoping to earn credit towards my Spanish major/my PoliSci minor.

Can anyone suggest a school to study abroad for Spanish?
My friend, there are so many options that I don't know where to start from. From Mexico down south to Argentina, and across the Atlantic in Spain. Schools are abundant and options are wide open. In Spain especially, there are so many schools that are certified to teach Spanish as second language for as low as 100 euros a week. Do the math! This is in virtually any city in Spain. I would like to suggest a school but you will need to tell me how much you are willing to pay, how long you are willing to stay for the program, and how hard you want to work to get the credit transfered.

Otherwise, just go to studyabroad.com and you will get hundreds of programs for mucho dinero...If you need help let me know
Reply:Venezia College of Languages. In Venice Italy.
Reply:Antigua, Guatemala has a Spanish language school on every other block. I'm at one called Centro Linguistico Maya. I have a private teacher and the class is well adapted to my needs.

Is it better 2 hav work experience and get a job abroad or to study abroad and get the job in tht country?

I'm from India and I want to get settled in countries like USA,Australia,England.

Is it better 2 hav work experience and get a job abroad or to study abroad and get the job in tht country?
A US college education will allow you to get internships and obtain a 1-year optional practical training work permit once you graduate. You can use this opportunity to find employers who may sponsor you. Also, you will have all the college resources (career counselors, job fairs, on-campus recruiters) at your disposal to help you find a suitable job.

What study/work abroad opportunities are available to student affairs professionals?

Once again wanderlust has hit me and I'm feeling the oppressiveness of an insular Ohio! LET ME OUT! I want to see the world and that isn't happening behind a desk and computer.

I already have a master's degree and the Higher Ed PhD just doesn't excite me.

What study/work abroad opportunities are available to student affairs professionals?
It's funny--I'm in the same predicament. I work in study abroad in PA, and I've just been contacting some of our schools abroad to see if they have any leads. I'd recommend checking NAFSA.org; they have resume postings as well. Other than that, just contact schools, and let me know if you get leads you aren't interested in!
Reply:Student affairs?

You might be asking that question for years to come both domestically and abroad.

Why is it beneficial to study abroad?

Besides the opportunity to travel.

Why is it beneficial to study abroad?
To see what another countries educational system is like. To take classes that are not available in your own country. Meet new people from around the world and grow as a student and person.
Reply:most people would say it's a great opportunity to learn about different cultures and people(s).
Reply:Ive done it - got my masters in UK. People are always extrememly impressed, even if they've never heard of the school or know its reputation!

Which country is better to study abroad for a semester: Australia or France?

I'm an industrial engineering student and I want to get in an interchange, I have considered 2 options: Australia or France. Which one is better? (Considering the cost of living).

Which country is better to study abroad for a semester: Australia or France?
Well, would you rather hang out with Australian people with their cool accents or with dirty French people that don't like you, smell bad, and often don't shave?

It's your choice...
Reply:I am fairly sure Australia's cost of living is better than France but this could also be subject to which city you are planning to live in. Consider what other issues are important to you like language and if there are any additional benefits of studing in one country over another.
Reply:It really depends upon you and what you want to do. Do you speak French? That is also something to consider. Although most Europeans speak English, they do appreciate it when one takes the effort to speak to them in their native tongue. In my opinion, they are both beautiful, and offer wonderful opportunities.

Hard decision, but fortunately it is a win/win.
Reply:France
Reply:im pretty sure both places are great! but everyone i know who goes to austrialia always say they never want to come back.
Reply:Unless you speak French, go to Australia.
Reply:depends on if learning the French language is an asset to you I think it might be
Reply:i donot know about france but i'm guessing europe would be equally expensive if not more. Australia can be very expensive as a student since they have 20 hr work limitations on overseas students. There student discount on train tickets but it's only for australian residents. An overseas student has to shell out for the full ticket. Rents are extremely high in sydney so sharing a house is the only option. It's really hard to make ends meet.

Australia is a beautiful country and the experience is well worth the trip. Rascism is a big problem in Australia, though policies are in place to deter it still the average australian can be very rascist especially if you are not white! let's face it they had a "White Only" immigration policy until 1977 which is not that long ago. Crikey! did i say too much about the red necks?
Reply:Why would you even consider France????? If you're just thinking about the relative closeness of Amsterdam I can understand, but come on!!!!

What colleges in Pennsylvania have study abroad courses in Belgium and/or Austria?

I'm a student at the Free University of Brussels in Belgium. We co-work with an association called Versalius who yearly receive international students from everywhere.

Through Brethren Colleges Abroad (BCA) you can have an opportunity to go for a while or long time to Brussels. And if I'm not wrong Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania provides such study abroad courses together with BCA.

Is it possible to get student loans from the states to study abroad?

If you apply for a study abroad program through your school, then you can use your aid package, including loans, for the semester or year of study abroad that you do.

If you have not done so already, complete the FAFSA and have it sent to your school so that the financial aid office can determine your aid package.

Talk to a financial aid officer at your school for more information/guidance.

Good luck!

Is it possible to get student loans from the states to study abroad?
Yes it is possible but i advise you not to do it like me i recieved many emails everyweek offering student assistant to study abroad but i reported it as spam because nowadays its hard to trust someone or even organizations...well you can still study abroad without needing help like study in your country 1st then after that work abroad you can be a working student abroad just go to masteral or another course as long as you attain your diploma abroad its such a great feeling.
Reply:You can just go to your local bank and take out a student loan I know chase and Bank of america does them but be careful not to get into to much debt.

What's the best loan for Study Abroad?

I'm a US college student studying abroad in the fall (beginning in September, but my first payment is in August.) At 24, I am ineligible for the PLUS Parent Loan, which paid the bulk of my tuition for my first three years of college. My family is quite poor and I rely entirely on financial aid...What loan would be best to replace the PLUS Loan?

How?? Study Abroad Aid for High School Students?

Hello all,

I am a high school student who is eagerly trying to go for study abroad this summer or the next. Last year I was invited to go on one of my chuirches missions to Russia but I could not afford it becuase of the cost. One of my goals in life is to work the orpahnages and hospitals after collge. As of now I am fluent enough in Russia to read newspapers and to able to understand Russian Radio. I hope that my early experience in Russia will help support my goal.

Does anyone know where to find financial aid for a high school study abroad? Please help me with any advice,

Thanks a lot!

How?? Study Abroad Aid for High School Students?
contact one of the orgs (or rather, all of them.. i would) that handle that.

---------------

try to aim for grants/scholarships more... they are not to be paid back. its confusing sometimes, but just keep applying. Scholarships usually have a 1 or 2 page application, and require an essay. Take your time with the essay, so yours stands out.

every big (and small) company you see (manufacturer, orgs, corps and groups also) all have grants and scholarships they hand out like candy. Walmart, Kmart, Target, Coke, computer companies etc etc etc

heres a link with a HUGE amount of some available. some you will need to copy and paste into a new window. also, fastweb (take the time to fill it in) will search databases and get back to you with a list of scholarships you qualify for.

Also contact all mens, womens associations in your state, they almost always have grants %26amp; scholarships. What ever field you are going into, contact the orgs, associations etc for them; Also check with professional organizations related to your career interests, such as the American Bar Association or the American Medical Association. they also always have scholarships. Research and dig, call then write. Its all worth it.

OVER apply; it doesnt hurt to have too many, and the extra funds can help with housing.

How can i study abroad as a nigerian with little or no finance?

Actually am an ND holder in elect/elect eng. in one of the nigeria polutechnic and i want to pursue a bachelor in Engineering in the same field abroad, pricesly uk.But i am financially handicap,so i want to know how i can make this dream a reality.

How can i study abroad as a nigerian with little or no finance?
Well i'm not exactly sure about what an ND holder is, but you could ask your employer to help pay for your travel and apply around at a few places that welcome foreign exchange students. A few colleges here in the US help pay for foreign students to travel to the college and many can offer financial help.
Reply:Run a 419 scam.
Reply:Go to the websites of as many universities as you can and look up the "scholorships" section and see if you qualify.

Another thing you can do is to visit or call the embassies of the various developed nations in your capital city and ask them about the scholorships offered to Nigerian students and how you can get one, or what are the requirements you need to fulfill.

Lastly you could sign a grant with your employer and the company could sponsor your education abroad and then you come back and work for the same company for as long as the contract says.

All the best :)

How?? Study Abroad Aid for High School Students?
One thing that might be very helpful is to right a letter letting people in your church, as well as family friends, that you are looking for sponsorship so you can spend some time studying abroad. Before you do this, you will want to find companies you can go with and an approximate cost. Also, see if there are scholarship options through the company you are hoping to go with.

If anything, if you need to get a few extra dollars (as a very last resort) some stores like Sams Club sell fundraiser packs of Candy Bars to raise a few last minute dollars!

Good luck and safe travels. Even if you can't afford to go this year, keep saving up and talking to people so that way you can maybe go the following year.
Reply:The first step is to fill out a FAFSA (Free Applications for Federal Student Aid), then students must decided on courses and receive approval. Once approved, students must provide a report of the costs to attend a school semester abroad.

Good luck!

How is study abroad progarm work? and Would you recommend?

anything will help

How is study abroad progarm work? and Would you recommend?
I'm a student in Britain studying Russian, and as part of my degree I must spend a year studying in Russia. I think, especially if you are studying a language, a year spent abroad is essential.

Even if you're not studying a language, studying abroad in an English-speaking country is also an invaluable experience. You'll learn a lot about another culture, as well as becoming more independant. Plus it'll look great on your CV.
Reply:in terms of cost, i recommended the States, especially those colleges close to the 5 lakes. They use quarter there instead of semester, which make u graduate fast. 4 quarters in a year and u can go to school everyday. master degree 1to1.5 years, totally cost of USD15,000, but that's 15 years ago, take into account the inflation and currency rate...wish u luck !!

Anyone willing to share any advice or suggestions on great Study Abroad programs?
Firstly what kind of study you wanting to do? are you looking for a school or university exchange program or are you interested in just studying a language while exploring new places. I did a few weeks in a language school in Cádiz Spain, here I learnt Spanish and explored the oldest inhabited city in Europe. After my course i received a certificate stating the level of Spanish I had acquired while being here. The Internet site if your interested is www.centromelkart.com
Reply:Hi Starlight,

GoAbroad.com has a comprehensive website that could help you in your search for the best study abroad program. Do check out http://www.studyabroaddirectory.com/sear...

http://www.StudyAbroadDirectory.com has instituted verification mechanisms for authenticity of study abroad providers(you can see a light green check or check++). Aside from that, previous participants of programs had posted their comments and experiences(look for the light blue "talk baloon" icon).

Good luck with your search.

Reply:The University of Portland (Oregon) has a great study abroad programme in Salzburg, Austria. It's a 2 semester programme in English (as opposed to German) that students usually participate in during their sophemore year. The programme includes great Art History and Music classes, as well as various other subjects. The Art class is especially interesting because you learn about the works and then see them. In the fall, students spend a week in France and in the spring, they spend three weeks in Italy and Greece. The school week is only 4 days long, and students are allowed to travel throughout Europe on the weekends. Perhaps best of all? You don't have to buy your textbooks.

It's really a great experience, you get to meet so many great people and see so many awesome things. If you're thinking about applying to a school with a study abroad progamme, consider UP.

They've also got one semester programmes in much of Europe and summer programmes in Austrailia. Hope this helps. :)

Possible to survive several years of college( and study abroad) on loans and schalorships?

I want to do college but most of the colleges I'm planning on are in areas where it is hard to find a job (san francisco for example). Heck, I cant even find a job here in Menifee. Mostly cause I need a food handling liscence. Besides that I've only been an mural artist or sign twirler.

Anyways I'm planning on going to several colleges for game graphics/programming. In the US, South Africa, and Japan.

Is it possible for me to live off loans/schalorships basically during the next 4-6 years is a good guess.

(note: I'm also hoping to start my own online art/programming business for the stuff I know now and stuff I'll learn. But I'm not sure if it will work out or earn me much.)

Possible to survive several years of college( and study abroad) on loans and schalorships?
If you go to an online university, you can choose to not have to pay a dime untill graduation, and still pull government grants and loans, and do a payment plan.

Like, I am a stay-at-home mom ,while my husband works frontdesk at a local hotel.

I watch the baby and go to Phoenix University Online and, like I said before, I don't pay a penny untill graduation day.Well, after graduation day, actually.

I got a loan from the school which I'll be paying off in small monthly payments after I get my degree.

Also with Phoenix University, you only have to go online 3 days a week, ANY time that you want, and for the most 1/2-an-hour,depending on your assignments.

It's a great school.
Reply:if you are going to be at college, you'll have a ton of contacts... try starting an online business that provides residual income

Who has the best Spanish study abroad program?

And what country is the best to study in?

Who has the best Spanish study abroad program?
I did a year abroad in Argentina. granted i already know how to speak Spanish, but I couldnt beliebe how much more i learned. They have a different accent in Argentina than in other countries, but I refused to pick it up since most of my family is from a neighboring country.

There were MANY student who were in the program with me who came to Argentina with little to NO knowledge of the Spanish language. Some only knew how to say "yo quiero Taco Bell" literally thats how bad some were. But I can be honest in telling that by the end of the program (late Sept to mid May) Every single one of them was fluent in Spanish. Some even also picked up Portuguese because the school I attended had a large group of Brazilian students.

My program also included trips to Peru, Buenos Aires (the capital), and 2 trips to Brazil. We also had many other opportunities to travel on our own to wherever we wished.

If you want more info, just let me know.
Reply:Well, it depends on your interests. There are so many countries, so many accents, and so many things to do in each country that this really comes down to your criteria. Spain is a top destination that also allows you to explore the rest of Europe. Latin America is exotic, warmer, and allows you to explore a completely different culture - each with its own traditions and values. These countries are well-known for their superb Spanish schools: Ecuador, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile and Spain.

Rome or Florence for a semester of study abroad?

Hello. I'd like to spend a semester in Italy this fall, but I cannot decide whether I should go to Rome or Florence. I want to go somewhere where I will completely immersed in the culture, and I like to go off and explore places. As much as I appreciate culture, however, I do like to party and drink rather often. Which city would be the better fit?

Any experiences from study abroad students who lived in either of these cities would be much appreciated too. Thank you!

Rome or Florence for a semester of study abroad?
Florence is definitely more "italian" because its so much smaller, but rome is incredible too. I'd say Florence because of the culture aspect, every city has nightclubs
Reply:Rome, Florence doesn't have enough to do in it to occupy you for a semester.
Reply:If I could choose, i would go for Rome.
Reply:Rome is awesome, but it's a major metropolis that after a while begins to feel too much like home. i stayed in florence for a year and it was amazing. my vote goes with florence!

oh, and there are Plenty of clubs, bars and pubs.

Would having the University halt study abroad programs in China help with the Boycott?

I don't know. What exactly are you boycotting in China?

Great online business that I joined 6 months ago

Thank you!

Is Leicester, UK a good place to go study abroad?

I went on the website of the city and all that but I am still not sure.

What other places in UK would you recommend to study aborad besides London?

Is Leicester, UK a good place to go study abroad?
Hi,

The best people to advise you will be the British Council people http://www.britishcounicil.org That is the official website to assist international students. Look for their offices in India.

http://www.geebeeworld.com is highly useful.

No one can really recommend any place since we dont know your course of choice

All the best!
Reply:Leicester is great. My step-daughter lives in the area and loves it. However, if your main interest is in the academics, don't overlook Ireland - some great schools are there.
Reply:What subject do you wish to study? There are two Universities in Leicester: Leicester University and De Montfort University. Avoid DeMontfort University. leicester as a place is reasonably cheap with plentiful sipply of cheap accommodation and it has a very large indian population. However the UK is an expensive place to study with very high fees.
Reply:it depends on what you want to study.

leicester university is a good uni.

manchester takes a lot of forign students as does Birmingham and Nottingham.

Leicester is a cheaper place to live than some and is quite a good multi cultural city

You could also consider Newcastle, Leeds, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Lancashire, Bristol, Exeter, Aberystwyth, Cardiff, Loughborough, Durham,

all these have excellent universities, but It depends on what you want to study and do they have the best course for your needs.

Anybody know any good study abroad programs?

I traveled with IES to Freiburg, Germany and a close friend went to Salamanca, Spain with them. We both had great experiences. They take care of finding you a place to live, any legal entry documents, insurance, the works. They have programs in Rome, Siena, and Milan.
Reply:I would suggest going to your study abroad advior at your college and seeing what programs they would suggest. You can also just do your own research (which i did to find the college in ireland that I wanted to attend) you have to make sure that your college in the states will accept your class credits when you are overseas because nothing would suck more then taking 15 credit hours and coming back here to find out your school doesnt accept them. Most colleges can work with you money wise and I know that my college has a deal that if you do an exchange (which is pretty much the same thing as studying abroad accept you go to the schools that your college has a contract with) you will usually pay the same tituation that you pay here when you are "exchaged" to the host university.
Reply:Depends on what you want to study.

If its art and/or itlalian language this place in florence is great http://www.saci-florence.org/academics/a...

Its a nonprofit so prices are low and they help with financial aid.

Where is the best place to study abroad for an aspiring educator?

Australia i belive.

great schools, universities and tafes.

In the coming years the education in australia will become evan greater with the election of a new Prime Minister who is begining a new education revolution to make australias education the 'best in the world'.

Plus if you are going to become an educator (teacher) if that is what you mean by your question, Western Australia in Australia is in major need of more teachers. They have just launched a huge campain all over the other states and around the world to attract more teachers for their education system as the wealthy state is in major need for skilled labour in all fields. Plus if you are looking to live in a place around the world, western australia would aslo be the top choice as it is great pay in regional areas for teaching due to a labour shortage and the states booming huge economy is sure to be great for all the population.

Where is the best place to study abroad for an aspiring educator?
depends what kind of educator you want to be.
Reply:That depends on; where you want to teach, what level you want to teach at, and what you want to teach (among other criteria). Without more details is it hard to give a precise and comprehensive answer.
Reply:I knew teachers that taught in Africa...they LOVED it. Said the children were VERY interested and motivated to learn. Plus, as a teacher you learn to work with what you have, since they don't have all the supplies we do!!!

Can Air National Guardsmen study abroad?

Hi I've been in the Guard for two and a half years now and I really don't know if its allowed. I know you can leave the country but would the Guard allow me to make up 4-5 months of drills so I could study abroad? If I could I'd probably need commander's approval right? I've never seen anyone try to make up that many drills unless they were deployed. Do you guys know?

Can Air National Guardsmen study abroad?
If your command releases you, you are allowed to do anything. There is an educational release that the Army offers. The air guard might offer it too.
Reply:Yes, you can. I went abroad for three months. Just talk to your supervisor. I made up the time by doing two drills in one month and extended my two weeks a few days. I didn't need my commanders approval. Any More Q's camezcua9@yahoo.com. Good Luck
